God Help the Girl - “Come Monday Night”

Although I don’t think there are any Belle & Sebastian albums on the immediate horizon, there is a Stuart Murdoch side project waiting in the wings, and that’ll have to do. The side project, called God Help the Girl, will be a musical film in 2010, but for now it’s just a story set to music. The music, which always has that familiar Belle & Sebastian feel, draws much from 60s girl groups, the 80s, and classic pop songs. The result is varied, uplifting, different, and beautiful.

“Come Monday Night” is the first single from the record (due in mid-June), and is a perfect showcase for the gorgeous vocals being supplied by newcomer Catherine Ireton.
